Position Overview:

We seek a visiting assistant professor in rhetoric and composition to contribute to our undergraduate program and our commitments to community engagement, advocacy, and writing for social change. This is a two-semester position for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 (mid-August through early May), teaching three courses each semester.

The successful candidate will teach intermediate and advanced writing and rhetoric courses in the Writing Rhetoric and Technical Communication program, possibly including nonfiction writing, argument, writing for advocacy, and/or a special topics course.

Must have experience teaching undergraduate courses in writing and/or rhetoric.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered so long as degree is completed prior to August 15, 2018.
  • Experience teaching writing and/or rhetoric at the undergraduate level.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of research/scholarly activity and potential.
  • Experience teaching advanced writing courses.
  • Interest in or experience in teaching courses on writing for advocacy or social change.
