POSITION: Nine Month Fixed Term Apointment*

DATE OF APPOINTMENT: August 20, 2018

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specialist in Composition with administrative experience to support student success in the department’s first-year writing curriculum. Responsibilities include training and supervising ENG 101 (Composition) TAs, designing and providing supplemental instruction for composition students, and supporting at-risk composition students as needed. This instructor will teach one section of composition per year. Also required: ongoing professional development, continued scholarly activity, and service on college/department committees.

*The position may be extended for a second year based on performance and budget availability.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Terminal degree in English or a closely related field conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources by August 6, 2018.
-At least 3 years of teaching experience in composition.
-Experience preparing college-level composition teachers.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Terminal degree in Rhetoric/Composition.
-Experience tutoring college-level composition students.
-Familiarity with strategies for supplemental writing instruction in support of at-risk students.
-Experience with first-year writing curriculum development.
-Experience with online instruction.
-Record of successful contributions to student growth and development.
-Record of successful workplace collaboration or other departmental, college, or university service.

-Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive working and learning environment.

The English Department at Minnesota State University, Mankato includes an MFA program in Creative Writing and MA programs in Literature and English Studies, English Education, Communication & Composition, Technical Communication, and TESOL, and undergraduate programs in the same fields plus Film & Media Studies and Humanities.
