Position Summary
The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at Clayton State University is seeking applicants for a non-tenure-track lecturer position in English. The position will begin on August 1, 2018. Salary will be commensurate with experience and competitive with comparable programs. Currently, the department supports multiple programs including a popular undergraduate degree in English, with emphases in writing, literature, or education. The department also offers courses in two graduate degree programs: the multidisciplinary Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and the Master of Arts in Teaching in English.
POSITION IN ENGLISH
The Department of English seeks a lecturer to teach first-year writing (English 1101 and 1102) and assist with portfolio assessment. This position will be filled by a candidate with experience in teaching first-year writing and survey of literature courses, and who can help with the work of the writing program, as desired. The position requires teaching 30 semester hours per year, 15 per semester. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in English with successful experience and/or training in teaching writing.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in English with clear evidence of coursework and/or significant experience in rhetoric/composition theory and pedagogy.
- Record of excellent teaching in composition and/or first-year writing
- Technological literacy and a commitment to integrate technology in teaching
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
