The English Department at the College at Brockport is accepting applications for a full-time Lecturer to teach in the College Composition Program beginning August 2018. This is a non-tenure track position with a renewable contract. The Lecturer will have a 4-4 teaching load and be required to do some departmental service.

Courses will include ENG 112, which fulfills the College’s General Education Writing requirement; ENG 102, a developmental writing course; and ENG 301 Advanced Composition. The position requires teaching standard sections of these courses as well as special sections of ENG 102 and 112 that are reserved for at-risk students in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and the Exceptional Talent program. Service will include assisting with program assessment, student placement, and other tasks within the English Department.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.A. or M.F.A. in English from an accredited US Dept of Education or an internationally recognized institution
  • Experience teaching expository writing in college composition courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a sensitivity to the experiences and learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of theory, methods, and pedagogies of writing that are current in the field of rhetoric and composition.
